Frequently Asked Questions

  • Question #1: What is the best traffic source?

There isn’t any traffic source in particular that’s better than others.

However paid traffic (such as Pay Per Click advertising) and search engine optimization (SEO) are considered the best sources of traffic by most people.

SEO is free, but there are tools (keyword research tools) that you may have to use that cost some money.

Social media marketing is also a good traffic source.

This consists of producing content on sites like Facebook, Instagram and Pinterest and build a following.

Once again it’s free unless you use paid tools.

Then there are other traffic sources that can bring in traffic more quickly, but very little. These are usually free traffic sources like blog commenting and forum posting.

  • Question #2: How long does it take for a new website to get traffic?

This depends on the traffic source you use and your skill level.

For example you can set up a pay per click ad campaign on Facebook or Google in just a few hours.

But in order to not go broke in the process you’d need to spend a lot of time learning about all the various aspects of that traffic source.

And you’d need to spend more time testing and tweaking your ad campaign until it works.

So in that scenario it can take you 6 – 9 months until you build a successful campaign.

A successful pay per click campaign means you’re getting a good amount of traffic and you’re also recuperating the money you’re spending through sales of whatever you’re selling.

On the other hand if you use something like SEO there’s also a learning curve. And you’d have to invest some money in some tools. But it’s not expensive as much as paid traffic.

If you follow the correct SEO strategy you can get traffic, even to a brand new website within 1 – 3 months.

In most cases, you’re not going to get an avalanche of traffic in that short period of time. But if you stick with the strategy the traffic keeps on increasing.

And of course then there are some traffic sources that can bring instant traffic, but not very much of it.

For example if you answer questions on Quora.com or forums you can expect to get some traffic in just days.

  • Question #3: Is SEO difficult to learn?

SEO is not difficult to learn especially nowadays with so many free content.

You can find dozens of youtube videos on every aspect of SEO and binge watch them. And there are a ton of articles as well.

Everyone has his favorite way of learning of course.

But in my opinion it will be a great idea to take notes in a word document or with pen and paper.

Sure if you’re brand new there are also several terms you’d have to learn.

But overall SEO is not rocket science.

From my experience it’s much easier to understand and actually implement than say copywriting or paid traffic methods like pay per click.

  • Question #4: Is buying website traffic a good idea?

Paid traffic is one of the best ways to get traffic. But in my opinion it’s not a beginner’s tactic.

Failures and mistakes can be costly.

It’s best to use paid traffic in my opinion after you really understand the other processes that are involved. Such as copywriting, website conversion, lead generation and so on.

Because you’d have to actually generate sales in order to use paid traffic successfully. You’d have to get a return on your investment.

It’s pointless to spend $100 on paid traffic but earn $0 in sales.

That’s why I think you’d need to know pretty well how you’re going to convert the traffic you get into leads and customers.

So you’re not just wasting money!

  • Question #5: How can I get free traffic?

There are many ways to get free traffic, but a lot of them won’t send much traffic.

The most important free traffic sources are search engine optimization and social media marketing.

It’s possible to do SEO using free tools, but chances of success are much lower in my opinion.

Therefore you’d have to spend some money on some keyword research tool. That’s the most important tool in SEO.

So SEO is not 100% free.

Social media traffic consists of publishing content Facebook Page, Youtube, Instagram, Pinterest, etc. You’d build a following on those sites.

Other faster ways to get traffic, (but less quantity) includes blog commenting, forum posting, Question & Answer sites like Quora, and so on.
